The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organised a regional workshop on “Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence” at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII, Bhubaneswar. The workshop brought together around 280 educators and academic experts from Odisha and West Bengal.
The one-day programme focused on strengthening teachers’ understanding of computational thinking (CT), AI-based pedagogy, interdisciplinary learning and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in education. The initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
CBSE has introduced a curriculum on Computational Thinking and AI for Classes 3 to 8 from the 2026–27 academic session, with an emphasis on logical thinking, systematic problem-solving, pattern recognition and responsible use of AI.
CBSE Joint Secretary and Centre of Excellence Head T. Mate highlighted the importance of integrating CT and AI into classroom practices, while Regional Officer Lalit Kumar Kapil stressed the need to equip teachers with future-ready skills. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ashish Ghosh, Director of IIIT Bhubaneswar. Other expert-led sessions explored computational-thinking pedagogy and its practical applications in schools.
The workshop marks another step towards preparing educators and students for an increasingly technology-driven learning environment. By strengthening teachers’ skills in computational thinking and responsible AI use, CBSE aims to promote critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and future-ready learning in schools.
