The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued an urgent advisory on March 16, 2026, warning of "legal and disciplinary action" against individuals and educators spreading misleading information regarding the ongoing board examinations and evaluation processes.

The move comes as the Board faces a wave of misinformation on social media platforms, ranging from factually incorrect claims about the evaluation of Class 10 and 12 papers to rumors regarding examination schedules.

In two separate circulars signed by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Controller of Examinations, the Board addressed both the general public and its own staff:

  1. For the Public: The Board noted that certain individuals are using the CBSE name, logo, and images of its buildings to create confusion. CBSE clarified that disseminating false information related to examinations is strictly prohibited, and violators will be liable for legal action under relevant provisions.
  2. For Evaluators: Teachers engaged in the On-Screen Marking (OSM) process, introduced this year for Class 12, have been cautioned against sharing personal experiences, opinions, or comments about the marking process online. The Board emphasized that the evaluation process is strictly confidential and governed by clear rules.

The Board has urged students and parents to rely solely on the official CBSE website (www.cbse.gov.in) for authentic updates and to ignore unverified posts on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and other platforms to avoid confusion.
