The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 and has reopened the application window for eligible candidates who could not register earlier. The decision gives prospective teachers another opportunity to complete their CTET registration.
Application Window Reopened
According to the latest CBSE notification, the CTET 2026 application portal has been reopened from August 25 to September 1, 2026. Candidates who missed the earlier registration period can now submit their applications during this extended window. Those who had already successfully registered earlier do not need to apply again..
The earlier application window was open from May 11 to June 10, 2026. The reopening of the portal is intended to provide eligible candidates with another opportunity to meet the required Teacher Eligibility Test qualification.
New Examination Date Yet to Be Announced
CBSE has also postponed the CTET examination that was earlier scheduled for September. The Board has not yet announced the revised examination date. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CTET website for announcements regarding the new examination schedule, admit cards and other important instructions.
The decision follows a recent Supreme Court judgment concerning the requirement of Teacher Eligibility Test qualification. CBSE said the additional opportunity was being provided in the larger interest of eligible candidates.
What Candidates Should Know
Candidates who are eligible and missed the earlier registration deadline should complete their application before September 1. Those who have already submitted a successful application should wait for further instructions and do not need to register again.
CTET is conducted by CBSE to assess the eligibility of candidates seeking teaching positions covered by applicable recruitment rules. The official CTET website remains the primary source for examination-related updates.
The postponement and reopening of applications are therefore important developments for aspiring teachers across the country. Candidates should keep checking official notifications so they do not miss the revised examination date or other updates.
