Several CBSE Class 12 students are facing admission crises due to delays in the board’s re-evaluation process, leaving them without revised mark sheets needed for college admissions. Many have reported losing seats, scholarship opportunities, and counselling rounds because institutions are unwilling to wait for pending re-evaluation results.

Nihal Sharma, a student who requested a review of his answer sheet, said his admission to Manipal University was cancelled before the revised marks arrived. Sharma stated that he completed every required process, but the revised marksheet did not come in time and the university did not wait.

Aliya Shaikh from Lucknow said she applied for re-evaluation of her maths answer book on June 6 but has received no update. Her college requires the final marksheet before June 19, and if the result does not arrive by then, her admission will be cancelled.

The crisis follows widespread complaints about CBSE’s On-Screen Marking system, including claims of blurred answer-sheet scans, unchecked responses, discrepancies in awarded marks, and unexpected reductions after verification. According to data released by the board last week, more than 1.6 lakh students applied for re-evaluation involving nearly 3.8 lakh answer books between June 2 and June 7.

Education experts noted that the volume itself reflects the level of concern among students regarding the original assessment. With no definitive timeline for revised results, students say they are being punished not for poor performance but for administrative delays beyond their control.

As universities race ahead with admissions, counselling rounds, and document verification, students who sought re-evaluation of their CBSE answer sheets say they are left behind. Some have already lost seats and admission opportunities while waiting for revised marks and updated marksheets.

Rehaan Vaidya from Pune, who is seeking admission to an undergraduate data analytics programme at a leading institute, said the institute has completed document verification and seat allotment. He is still waiting for his revised marks.
