The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Wednesday that it had successfully thwarted a major cyberattack targeting its official website. The attack, classified as a denial-of-service (DoS) incident, involved 3.8 million data packets being directed at the site.

According to the CBSE, the attack was detected and neutralised without causing any disruption to the board's online services. The board's technical team acted promptly to block the malicious traffic, ensuring that students, schools, and other stakeholders could continue accessing the website normally.

The denial-of-service attack attempted to overwhelm the CBSE website by flooding it with an excessive number of requests. Such attacks are designed to make a website slow or completely unavailable to legitimate users. In this case, the board's cybersecurity measures proved effective in preventing any service degradation.

The CBSE did not disclose the source or motive behind the attack. However, the board confirmed that no sensitive data was compromised and that all systems remained operational throughout the incident.

This incident comes at a time when the CBSE website is heavily used by students and schools for exam-related updates, results, and administrative processes. The board has urged users to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Cybersecurity experts within the board have since reinforced monitoring protocols to guard against future threats. The CBSE stated that it continues to invest in robust security infrastructure to protect its digital platforms.
