The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led organisation with a strong social media presence, conducted a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The demonstration focused on the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case and alleged irregularities in the CBSE’s on-screen marking (OSM) system used for evaluating and re-evaluating Class 12 board examination papers.
Thousands of supporters carrying posters and banners gathered at the location to participate in the event. The protest was led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, and the group had obtained permission from Delhi Police before proceeding. Dipke urged participants to carry out the protest peacefully and appealed to them to welcome police personnel with flowers.
Security arrangements in and around Jantar Mantar were significantly heightened in view of the protest. Nearly 40 companies of paramilitary forces were deployed in the area. Senior officials, including Joint Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional DCPs, and Assistant Commissioners of Police, were stationed to oversee the situation.
Authorities kept a close watch on private cab services such as Ola and Uber to detect any unusual spike in bookings toward Jantar Mantar. Additionally, social media platforms were placed under surveillance to ensure that law and order was maintained throughout the demonstration.
Education reformer and activist Sonam Wangchuk reached Delhi to join the protest. He had earlier announced on X that he would join if no action was taken by June 5. In his post, Wangchuk stated, “If not us, who? If not now, when? I will be joining the CJP members in Delhi on 6th June if nothing changes by 5th June. Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong… Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India.” In a separate video, he clarified that his concerns extended beyond the recent examination controversies, saying, “Your reasons are the NEET and CBSE exams, but for me, it is a bigger issue.”
The protest highlights ongoing grievances among students and activists regarding examination security and evaluation processes. The CJP, which has built a significant following on social media, continues to demand accountability from authorities over the NEET paper leak and the CBSE OSM system.
