The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the results of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026, bringing relief to lakhs of students seeking admission to universities across India. Candidates can now access their scorecards through the official CUET portal.
However, the declaration of CUET results has coincided with uncertainty for more than 20,000 CBSE Class 12 students who are still waiting for their re-evaluation results. The delay has created concerns among students as the university admission season gathers pace.
According to the CBSE, revised results for around 87 percent of students who applied for re-evaluation have already been released. The remaining cases are expected to be announced in subsequent phases, although the board has not yet provided a specific timeline.
This year witnessed a large number of applications for answer-sheet verification and re-evaluation. Many students have reported significant increases in their marks after review, highlighting the importance of the re-evaluation process. In some cases, revised scores have even changed students' academic rankings.
The delay is particularly significant because CBSE Class 12 marks are often used to determine eligibility criteria and tie-breaking rules during university admissions. While CUET scores remain the primary basis for admission in many institutions, revised board marks can still play an important role.
Students awaiting their updated marksheets have urged authorities to expedite the process so that they can participate in counselling and admission procedures without uncertainty. Education experts have also called for timely coordination between examination boards and admission authorities to ensure that students are not disadvantaged.
As universities begin releasing admission schedules and cut-off lists, thousands of students continue to hope for an early resolution to the pending re-evaluation process.
