The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced the availability of two new textbooks for Grade 9 students for the academic year 2026–27. The announcement is part of the ongoing implementation of the revised school curriculum based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

According to the NCERT announcement, the new Grade 9 Mathematics textbook, Ganita Manjari – Part 2, has been printed and is available for sale from September 21, 2026. Students, teachers and schools can now purchase the textbook through NCERT's authorised sales channels.

The second textbook, Grade 9 Social Science – Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2, will be available for sale from September 30, 2026. The book is part of the updated Social Science learning resources being introduced for Grade 9 students.

Both textbooks are designed in line with the changing curricular approach outlined under NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023. The new framework focuses on making school education more engaging, meaningful and connected to students' learning needs. The updated textbooks are expected to support this approach through revised content and learning resources.

New Books for the 2026–27 Academic Year

The introduction of the two textbooks is significant for Grade 9 students, as NCERT is gradually bringing new learning materials in accordance with the revised curriculum. Mathematics and Social Science are key subjects in the Grade 9 curriculum, and the availability of updated textbooks will help students and teachers follow the new academic framework.

NCERT has also clarified that the books will be available through NCERT Sales Counters, the official NCERT website and Amazon. Students and parents have been advised to purchase textbooks through authorised channels.

The Mathematics textbook is the first of the two books to become available. Students can purchase Ganita Manjari – Part 2 from September 21 onwards. Those waiting for the Social Science textbook will have to wait until September 30, when Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2 is scheduled to go on sale.

The new textbooks are expected to become important classroom resources for Grade 9 students during the 2026–27 academic session. Their release also reflects NCERT's continued efforts to introduce learning materials aligned with the country's updated school education framework.

With the Mathematics book now available and the Social Science book set to follow shortly, Grade 9 students will soon have access to both updated textbooks for the new academic curriculum
