Several states across India have adjusted their school reopening schedules in response to the ongoing heatwave conditions. Educational institutions under CBSE, ICSE, private, and government management will resume classes on different dates depending on the state.
In Delhi, students will return to classrooms on July 1, making it one of the regions with a longer summer break. Haryana has announced summer holidays from May 25 to June 30, though reopening dates may vary in some districts based on local weather. Punjab is also expected to reopen schools on July 1.
The Uttar Pradesh government has extended summer vacations for schools under the Basic Education Council and recognized institutions until June 24. This decision was taken due to the continuing heatwave across the state. Schools in Madhya Pradesh are set to reopen on June 16 after a summer break that lasted from May 1 to June 15. Educational institutions in Chhattisgarh are also scheduled to resume regular classes on June 16.
Due to intense heat, the Telangana government postponed the reopening of schools. Classes, which were expected to begin earlier, will now resume from June 15. In Bihar and Rajasthan, educational institutions are expected to reopen on June 21.
In Jammu and Kashmir, school reopening dates may differ from region to region depending on local weather conditions. Authorities are expected to issue updated instructions based on temperature levels and climate conditions.
As reopening schedules continue to vary across states and districts, parents and students are advised to stay updated through their schools and local education departments. Authorities may revise school timings or issue fresh guidelines if heatwave conditions persist.
